Mini Countryman SE ALL4, great EV but lacks range

In April 2025, we test drove the Mini Countryman SE ALL4.

The Mini Countryman SE ALL4 is an AWD electric SUV. It has a range of up to 341km. It starts at $59,990 MSRP.

The Mini Countryman SE ALL4 is not mini at all. It is a mid-size SUV. The exterior design is modern looking. The flush handles make the car looks sleek. I like how it looks on the outside and inside. When steeping into the new Countryman, there are three front and rear light signatures, as well as a logo projection next to the front doors. The Mini Countryman SE ALL4 features a minimalist interior design. The sustainably crafted materials with the atmospheric mood lighting makes the interior very stylish. I like the colour combination of the test drive vehicle. I absolutely love the standard circular OLED touchscreen. It is so beautifully looking. “The 9.4” display is made from high-quality glass which lends a distinctive, minimalist appearance to the interior. Nestled in the centre of the MINI Interaction Unit, it serves as the main instrument cluster, as well as your onboard hub for infotainment and assistance.” There is no instrument cluster in front of the driver. The speedometer is located in the top center of the circular infotainment system. It is nice and big in size, which makes it easy to read. There is also a head-up display. I like the steering wheel. It looks sporty and gives you a go-kart feeling. There is a sunroof. There is a small hump on the ground of the back seats. The interior is quite spacious. There is no front trunk.

The Mini Countryman SE ALL4 drives great. It drives quite zippy and does feel like a go-kart. There is one pedal drive. There are different drive modes. Each drive modes alter the car’s tuning, changes the face of the circular infotainment system, and changes interior mood lighting and sounds inside the vehicle. In the sportiest setting, it does 0 to 100km/h in under 6 seconds and delivers up to 308hp. I’m surprised that this MINI has a soft suspension. We have owned a gasoline Mini Cooper three door hatch before and the ride was so harsh and bumpy. The Mini Countryman SE ALL4 has a comfortable smooth ride.

I like the Mini Countryman SE ALL4. It drives sporty. The ride is comfortable. The interior is perfect for my likings. However, the range sucks. 341km of range is not acceptable. An EV with 400km+ range is the norm in 2025. The Mini Countryman SE ALL4 is only suitable for around town driving, not for road tripping. It is a family SUV for city driving.
